Australian Beef and Lamb Speaks to Growing Hispanic Community

Washington, D.C. –Today Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) announced the launch of the Spanish-language versions of their popular Australian beef and lamb websites.

MLA Regional Manager, Michelle Gorman said, “Lamb and beef are ingredients that are prevalent in Latin dishes — just pick up any popular cookbook and you will find dishes like television star Daisy Martinez’s Lamb Shoulder Roast with Spinach and Prunes, Puerto Rican Pot Roast, and Home-Style Stuffed Peppers.” Because of the popularity of beef and lamb in Latin cooking and the fact that 14% of the U.S population is Hispanic, MLA felt that offering their websites in Spanish was a direct way to reach out to this important and growing market.

The completion of this latest milestone reinforces MLA’s commitment to this group and is the next step in the development of a range of resources that outline the features and benefits of Australian beef and lamb to consumers and the trade in both English and Spanish. MLA previously developed consumer brochures and recipe books in Spanish as well as trade publications to assist wholesalers and retailers when purchasing Australian products.

Ms. Gorman said “In our market research we identified that U.S. consumers are increasingly interested in a range of beef and lamb information including how the animal is raised, product safety, and health and nutritional attributes. In addition, consumers are looking for a special meal experience that is easy and quick to prepare. We have designed our websites around these needs by offering information on where to purchase Australian beef and lamb, cooking and handling tips, nutritional information, and lots of recipes.  We have had a very positive response to our new websites with traffic growing everyday.”

Visitors can access the Spanish sites at www.australian-beef.com/espanol and www.australian-lamb.com/espanol. The English versions of the websites can be accessed at www.australian-beef.com or www.australian-lamb.com .
